For Mom and Dad

Merry Christmas! Sorry we're late on your present (well, the one that didn't come in Jeni's wrapping paper--thanks Jeni by the way!). Anyways, if you're not Mom and Dad and are reading this...my parents asked for Christmas that each of us kids did a service and then blog about it or tell about it. Anyways, we didn't take pics because it would have been a little awkward so sorry....but we did do a service--or three.

Tally and I made banana bread and took it to our neighbors. It was pretty neat because all three of them were super surprised that anyone would knock on their door to give them a gift. 2 of them only spoke to us through the door until we told them who we were and what we had. One lady was really grateful and told me the following day that she'd be having a pity party for herself that night and was really hating life. It made her really happy to have a gift --"that tasted good too". Tally was so glad to help me cook, wrap, and knock on doors and even said "HAPPY HOLIDAYS!"
Then, we piled up some toys and clothes from our apartment (okay...LOTS!) and took them over to Salvation Army this past Sunday. Tally was a little nervous about giving some things up but was okay with it when I explained that some kids are so sad because they don't have any toys and we were going to give them some of ours so they could be happy.
Last, we have food in our car that is heading to the food pantry today. It would have gone on Sunday..but they were closed..hmm... Anyways, we loved it, I loved explaining to our kids, and I think Tally learned a lot from it. Thank you Mom and Dad for asking for us to do this, this Christmas. I think we'll keep the tradition. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
