Today we went walking at 8:30...I thought it was really cold...colder than normal...and it was. It was 0 degrees (which isn't actually colder than normal but...). So, incase you're trying to decide if it REALLY is cold in Chicago, here are some things that will help you get an idea of JUST HOW COLD IT IS!
1.You see a black puddle, but as you walk into it, there's no splash...just slickness that causes you to fall right on your rear-end.2.You CD player in your car won't start until the car is heated up. The heater won't budge (not even to shoot out freezing air) either until the car's been on for about 3 minutes.
3.Any skin left exposed (ex. your hand) will become unusable open walking outside.
4.You not only have to scrape the windshield to get snow/ice off, you also have to scrape the INSIDE where your breath has FROZEN.
5.The outside door of your apartment has frozen so that it won't shut anymore.
6.Your eyes tear up as if your eye is trying to keep from freezing when you walk outside.
7.The hairs inside your nose (yes, it sounds gross), but they freeze with every breath you take in and then unfreeze when you breath out.
8. And, though this HAS NOT Been tested, I'm pretty sure if you licked the window from the INSIDE of your apartment, it'd still stick!

Wow, that sounds like arctic cold.
Can you imagine what it's like in the places where it goes way below 0? Crazy!
It's like a crunchy-cold, right?

#7 is how I always described Boston's bitter cold. Don't you just love how cold it is! I hate when the wind chill is like -10, -15. It's just wrong.
Holy cow, you WALKED in that??? You are brave! I would have been too much of a baby to even step outside! I hope it warms up for you soon!!!
Man I don't know how you do it- and seriously what were you doing walking in 0 degree weather?! I honestly hate the winter time. I am definitely much more of a summer person. I go in to hibernation for the winter...just ask my neighbors. I'm going stir crazy already and it's only been in the 30s!
