Probably the BIGGEST thing my kids love about living where we live is our neighbor...Diane. She gave Bergen a fish a while back... Bergen is always in her yard helping her in some way. Recently he's been walking her dog, Jack, for her and just planted all her tomato plants! He's getting quite the savings account! We're trying to teach about service and asked him to not accept any more money... he was VERY upset...but he still loves helping her! Today, when I went outside, he had "safety glasses" (LOL!) on and was hammering old pots for her. He had a BLAST. Tally got home from school just in time to help a bit.
Each day, the kids HAVE to pet Jack. Bergen gets really upset if he's outside and Bergen's not out there with him. The minute he hears his bark in the morning, Bergen RACES to get outside.**the fish story... A week or so ago, Bergen has me tie up a baggie full of water. He puts it outside by our porch and explains that he is trying to catch a fish. He's certain it will work because fish LOVE water... Diane is outside and asks what's going on. She laughs and Bergen runs inside super excited, knowing he will catch a fish.
About an hour or so later, there's a knock at the door. Bergen rushes to open it and on our doorstep, in a nice tank, is a fish! Speed-eo was quite welcome! I looked around and DIane was hiding in the bushes and told me not to tell him. He was SCREAMING "YES!YES!YES!" for about 10 min and jumping up and down! Diane and I were both laughing and she was so happy it made him so happy!
Since then, Bergen has tried to catch some more fish...but finally saw the box to the tank in Diane's garage, so he knows the secret and is super happy. BEST. NEIGHBOR. EVER!
We are going to miss Diane so much. A few days ago, she told me how much she would miss Bergen and just started SOBBING. I felt so bad. She is such sweet woman and we will never forget her. I wish she could be our neighbor forever. Seriously.
