Tender Heart

Anyone who REALLY knows Bergen, knows he has such a sweet and tender heart. Yes, he loves getting a rise out of his little sister, but in the end, his heart overcomes. 3 recent instances have made me realize just has tender his little heart is:

1. We went to the Jelly Belly. The kids always take out the brown ones because they are coffee. What they don't know is that they could also be chocolate or soda flavors. Svend noticed the cup holder in Bergens chair was full of brown jelly bellies. He grabbed them and began picking through them and popping them in his mouth. Bergen literally cried "Daddy! Don't eat those!!! Those are coffee!!!" We were telling him that some were soda...but Bergen started tearing up. He was so worried for Svend and didn't want him to get hurt by eating the coffee ones.

2. We were furniture shopping and Tabitha was being a stinker. someone looked at her the wrong way and she did what she does best and stopped...refusing to budge. We said goodbye to her and headed to the door (the usual parental trick...that doesn't work on her though...ugh). Bergen started crying. I asked him what was wrong. He said " daddy's going to leaven Tabitha! He can't leave Tabitha." We told him it was just a trick... and Svend had me take the kids to the car while he grabbed Tabitha. Bergen wouldn't budge until he was confident that Svend really was grabbing her. He still cried all the way to the car.

3. We were at the spray park and a little boy went over to a little girl and literally pried her fingers off the water gun and pushed her away so he could play with it. Bergen INSTANTLY walked over to him and started talking in his ear. He had an extremely mean face on. We yelled at him to come over and asked him what was going on (even though we'd seen the whole thing...). He teared up (seriously) and was crying as he told us how that little boy was so rude to push off the little girl and he needed to wait his turn. We sent him back (I know... ) to the little boy. He just kept teilling him how he neede dto wait his turn and tell her sorry (the kid was oblivious). We finally had to tell Bergen to back off and leave him alone...but he didn't forget. He kept an eye on the kid the entire time. He is a little protector--of little girls :)
