The Adventurer vs. The Shy One

Adventurer: I dive into the water without caring if I sink. I run out ahead of everyone searching for things no one else sees. I'm not afraid to try anything!
The Shy One: I'd rather stay close to the shore where I can stand. I don't like water on my face. I stay behind Mommy and Daddy if people get too close. I am timid and have to watch all the other kids do something before I'll even think about trying... and then I probably won't do it anyways.

Who's who???

This last weekend was Svend's 3-day summer vacation. (yes, he's had the whole summer off, but he's been working in a garage cleaning fur coats all summer to pay the bills!) We soaked it up and tried to do a LOT in a VERY short amount of time.

Wednesday:

Tally had her preschool check-up...did REALLY well, was nervous but held her tears until she saw him bring in a basket with a shot in it (she hasn't had shots since she was 12months but apparently remembers!). Afterward, as promised for her reward, we went to the children's museum (our favorite place!). That night, since Tally can't wear crocs or sandles to school, we went to buy her some new tennis-shoes. She wanted Dora one's that light up...but thankfully for our wallet we convinced her of some other ones. The other reason was she started limping wierd so we decided she needed more sturdy shoes. Not to be left out, Bergen got some as well.

Thursday:

Svend went to the driving range and then met the kids and me at the mall so Tally and I could watch the American Girl movie and he could take Bergen with him. CUTE MOVIE!!! I think we'll buy it when she's a little older! That night we made orange juleous (sp?) I think Bergen really liked it!

Friday: Ran errands...fun! Then, went swimming at this little lake near our aparment. SO FUN! Tally stayed where she could touch and Bergen dove in over and over. At one point he went too deep and by the time I grabbed him (about 2 seconds), he had almost swam his way to the surface. Can you say....SWIMMER??? WAHOO!!! Tally prefers land! That night was date night so Svend and I went and got massages at the mall. It was a little odd tuning out the people walking by, but it felt good!

Saturday was Gurnee Days --kind of like a founder's day celebration. We went and explored the fire station and all the trucks. We went through exhibits (with all the free stuff)--so don't worry Dad, we got your Christmas present-hehe! Then we ate ribs! They even gave Svend their "secret" recipe! YUM! Then, they had fair rides for the kids-FUN! Bergen wanted to do EVERYTHING and Tally actually did too. Notice below Bergen's in the roller coaster with Tally in one pic but not the next. During the first time around, their buckle came undone and Bergen stood up. The guy stopped to fix it, and it was enough for me to take Bergen out--yes, parinoid mom--I know!
